Families are invited to a festival in the old town which is reborn after a two-year absence. Family Fun Day is a mix of carnival, concert and food truck rally. The festivities will take place at the Old Town Plaza on Saturday, April 16. Free entry.

The Pleasant Grove High School Jazz Band is set to play at the festival and there will also be a performance by the Cosumnes Oaks High School color guard.

This gathering is organized by the Elk Grove Youth Commission, which usually creates events for local teenagers.

“We wanted something that appealed to families and people of all ages,” said Kassi Parsons, chair of the commission.

This festival was last held in 2019 before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and resulted in the cancellation of most festivals in the Elk Grove community for the next two years.

Parsons said the upcoming Family Fun Day will give families an outlet for fun.

“It’s just a day for families to get out and have fun,” the Pleasant Grove High School sophomore said.

Later this spring, the Youth Commission will host the annual Party on the Palms event for teens in front of Elk Grove City Hall on Saturday, May 14.

Family Fun Day runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 9615 Railroad St. near Elk Grove Boulevard.
