The food content creator with a whopping 646,000 followers on her TikTok account, where she amassed over 10.2 million likes, testing out five popular hacks to keep avocados fresh. Samira Kazan, the winner of Netflix’s Crazy Delicious, goes through Alphafoodie online. She runs her blog posting mostly plant-based foods and told her followers, “I tested five lifehacks for storing avocados. I’ll show you the results.”

Storing avocados in water

This hack has gone viral with some claiming it can keep avos fresh for four weeks. However, there is a big caveat attached to this hack. In fact, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned against pirating because it can cause Listeria.

He said: “The FDA does not recommend this practice. The primary concern was the possibility that any residual human pathogens (Listeria monocytogenes, salmonella) that may reside on the surface of the avocado could potentially multiply during storage when stored. is submerged in water.

“Additionally, research by FDA scientists has shown that Listeria monocytogenes has the potential to infiltrate and internalize the pulp of avocados when immersed in refrigerated dump tanks within 15 days. during refrigerated storage.

“In this case, even surface disinfection of the avocado skin before slicing would not be able to remove the contamination.”

Avocado and onion

Onions are said to have properties that help keep an avocado fresh.

The sulfur compounds in onions are thought to stop the browning of avocado.

The hack is to store the avocado in an airtight container with chopped onion.

However, Samira found the hack not particularly effective. She said, “Certainly not. Not only does it fill the refrigerator with an onion smell, but it’s all just plain wrong.”

Frozen guacamole cubes

This hack also includes freezing the avocado, but in a different way. First, mash the avocado. Then just pour it into an ice cube tray.

Freeze, and when you want frozen avocado, thaw!

Samira said: “I like this one, they keep the color also slightly watery but not bad.”

Frozen avocado can be stored in the refrigerator for four to six months.
