Coffee and skateboarding are West Coast staples that aren’t often talked about in the same breath. A new Tacoma company is looking to change that.
At The Method, high-end gear and locally-made decks are as readily available as drinks made from Hilltop’s own Manifesto coffee.
Long involved in the regional skateboarding community, owners Aaron Artis, Jack Saffle and Stein Hansen decided to combine their passion with expertly roasted coffee to create Washington’s first full-service skate shop and cafe.
In addition to promoting the great flavors of Manifesto Coffee, the group also hopes to spread the message about the impact and positive of skateboarding.
“We want to change people’s perceptions to see skateboarding in a more positive light,” said co-owner and former professional skateboarder Artis. “Many are hardworking and outstanding members of the community. We take pride in what we do, and so does Manifesto Coffee. We really want to share this with the community.
In addition to its drinks and Method-made skateboards, The Method also offers its Weathermaker clothing brand in-house or online for durable Northwest-inspired outdoor gear.
The official launch of The Method is scheduled for this Saturday, July 9, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., 822 Court A, Tacoma.
